Two Sats ago, Daddy visited Taiwan Taipei for 4D3N business.
We had always wanted to visit Taiwan, nice country, friendly people, street food, and some say pretty girls (shy).
But during our research, Taiwan Tourism did not seem to actively promote Taiwan as a pro-family (especially young kids) destination. We know HuaLian (花莲) got some farm-stay, but Taiwan's themeparks are very low profile internationally (everyone knows about Goldcoast but Taiwan?)
After our kids hear about itinerary, they beg Daddy to smuggle them to Taipei first! (above pic)
Gloomy in both SG and Taipei
Our company checkin to Regent (晶華), a 5 star hotel, but no night-markets nearby (guess hotel too classy). From our room, we can only see old buildings, we heard some rooms can see Taipei 101 ! Well, at least we got a funky toilet bowl :p
Taipei has a lot of scooters (Still lesser than HoChiMinh), and streets are very clean.
For our dinner, company is going to Silks restaurant next to Gu (4) Gong (1) (故宮晶華).
The food we had today, will be showcased again when we visit 故宮 tomorrow.. (does a big White cabbage sounds interesting to you?)
Our dishes are exquisite, and must have cost a bomb. We had abalone and Buddha-jump-wall.
After dinner, Daddy tried to do some sight seeing, and he started with 101.
We hear there is a 象山 (elephant hill) 15mins away from Taipei 101, but Daddy got lost navigating the streets. Otherwise, we would be able to see Taipei 101 from another angle!
This photo is from http://taiwan-photography-blog.com/2009/05/15/hiking-four-beasts-elephant-mountain/ (Neil's blog contain many beautiful Taiwan pictures )
**Daddy had underestimated the Chinese-text street maps of Taiwan. Every streetname looks alike ! and taxi driver are not fluent in English :p (quite embarrassing to admit I am Chinese haha)
