Krabi Day 4 - rest & relax

Mummy say today is Rest and Relax (R&R), and we need to
recover our strength. What is R&R?

We are all tanned, adults are tired, but kids are still energetic.
Boundless energy, that is Youth for you!!

We woke up at 8am for our breakfast, and we welcome the extra hour of slumber zz.

After breakfast, we laze around on bed, playing our favourite toy cars.
These cars will follow us on every holiday trip.

Let us take some photos for our folks back home.
Daddy was worried kiddos' din would wake up neighbours.

Who wants to dive in? Wei and Kang gamely pose.
Hotel has a small garden in the backyard, providing respite from the sun.

The boys running and sprinting along our corridor.
Shadow casted from the railing looks artistic.

Have you noticed Krabi's blue-sky is always Blue? and with a lot of fluffy clouds !
Too bad Singapore seldom have this type of tone.

Our balcony, and more cars.
It is always Wei and Yi with cars, they exhibit similar traits.

Video : View from Balcony

After a short rest, we trooped outside for last minute shopping.

Look what we bought.. life-jacket, beach wear, snorkel set.
These items are not cheap, as Krabi merchandise are targeted at tourists :p

We should have bought them on Day 1 :p

Packed and ready for our transfer to airport.
Kids entertained themselves.
Wei start blogging about our Krabi experience !

Our friendly staff at La Playa.
They are always accommodating, and very fond of our kids.

Everybody likes to hug Yi and Xin (the two smallest cutest) members.
They really make our stay enjoyable :)

Video : Ao Nang beach, bye bye

On the way to airport, more blue skies, we are going to miss the Blues !!

Darling, we hope you have enjoy our Krabi escapade ..smooch :)

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ Summary over last four days ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
We have booked our islands package from Ao Nang Speed Boat Tour.
There a lot of competition, so we believe you are unlikely to get further discounts :p
Summary between Redang and Krabi (our own opinion)
1) Activities for kids
Redang
- mostly snorkelling and more snorkelling.
- fish feeding is available at beach outside Laguna resort
Krabi
- elephant trekking, horse riding, shopping and eateries abundance, although some might want to stay secluded.
- you can even visit temples and hot springs (in the middle of jungle)
- krabi has city-shopping package, but we were not interested
- island hopping are our highlights
2) Island hopping
Redang
- activities confined to island, less island hopping packages, suspect Redang targeting dive-tours or honeymooner (romance)
- depending where you live, roads are not illuminated at night.
- MarinePark offers pristine sand and water quality
- beach quality at doorstep (both Berjaya and Laguna resort) is generally better than Krabi (no need to travel out)
- forget about shopping
- beach outside laguna stretch offers night activities
Krabi
- multiple islands to explore (our kids enjoy the hops)
- beach at Krabi (Ao Nang) is inferior to Redang's
- for Redang quality sand/water, need to charter boats to island (1/2 days package)
3) Food
Redang
- a lot of rendang and spicy dishes, limited dishes for kids
- unless you dine in
Krabi
- lots of eateries, non spicy for kids
- we are guilty of fast food
You will have fun at either Redang or Krabi.
For more Redang activities, please go to this fabulous site --> http://redang.org
One last point on Krabi,
if you can only choose only one island hopping package, go for Hong Island.
We might try Railey and PhiPhi , or even 1 day Phuket on our next trip :)
... or you can reference ChinChin's Maya/PhiPhi blog.
Have we convinced you to book Krabi for your next trip already ?
ps.. if you have been to Maldives, please do not compare. Different league :p
Krabi activities for kids (甲米) :
Day 1 - Arrival
Day 2 - Four Islands
Day 3- Hong Island
Krabi Day 3 - Hong Island
Yesterday, we took slow LongTail boat, and today,
we will be zipping around with speedboat.
- Pak Bia
- Lading
- Hong Lagoon
- Hong Beach
Speed Boat prices :
Adult (1200B), Child ( 1000B)
After breakfast, we roam around hotel looking for photo opportunities.
We took a pickup to Ao Nang beach just 5 min away
Video : Windy and Noisy, yet she sleeps
Long Tail boat and Speedboat offers different experiences, but kids are indifferent.
They still enjoy their boat trips :)
# First stop - Pak Bia Island
A sandy strip of beach separates two water bodies.
Only one side is suitable for swimming and fish feeding.
(the other side is padded with sharp corals and pebbles !)
Video : Pak Bia Island
If you do not enjoy the water, you will enjoy the sand (just like Ah Kang No2)
# Second Stop - Lading Island
Video : Lading Island activities
Swim, feed, sand, or just rest..anything you prefer, this is your island !!
Video : Xin, you like the waves or not? Face Expression no change?
This island feels secluded (which island is not?)
The fishes here are not shy of humans.
Video : Yi got intimidated by fish (1min 10s)
Mount Up. Water melon treat, C.o.o.l !!
Video :bumpy boat
Video : # Third Stop - Hong's lagoon
Serene. Peaceful. Eerily quiet. Postcard perfect !
Video : If only we can jump into the lagoon..
Lunch break, picnic by the beach.
Video : Lunch break . How come kids do not seem tired?
There is this overhanging cliff, we just have to explore the coastline.
Video : Swimming under cliff, cool !!
Video : Yi is always smiley and chirpy
Are we ready for next stop?
Xin is active now, but she will soon go into dreamland...
Video : Wei, can you swim faster?
# Fourth Stop - Hong Beach
Video : Hong's beach - Krabi's best playground (for us)
Our swimming pool is flank by limestone-walls.
Waves enter through two side entrance.
If you are standing near intersection, you will feel warm and cool waves !!
Video : beautiful beach, but she is sleeping again!!
Wei and Yi had the most Fun here, while Kang choose to play with sand.
Maybe Kang have phobia of waves, or fishes?
Video : Fish attack #1
Video : Waves are coming, hide !
More pictures..
Video : Fish attack #2
Little girl, you wake up already? Did you miss any Fun ? keke
Video : Run, who is No1 ?
Look what we found !! Our Fan has engrave our initials on the sand !!
What a plesant surprise :p
Video : Xin first time facing Sand and wave, Alone !
We spend two whole hours at Hong's beach,
and we have so much fun at with Koh Hong package, compared to 4-Islands (Day 2)
The smaller ones always tired out first, even Daddy feels sleepy and worn out....
row row row your boat.... Quick bring us home to rest..
Video : her hair looks cool, but Kang is tired
After reaching hotel, we took a quick shower, and march out for early dinner.
Cannot afford to sleep, otherwise we will all wakeup for breakfast haha.
We Rsvp 6pm at restaurant e-San.
Heard some good reviews about this restaurant.
Since we are early, we got BK ice cream treat.
..we loiter around Ao nang streets...
Quick, serve us dinner, we are hungry !!
Food at "e-san" is so so..we had better food and fried rice from room service.
Unfortunately, we do not have much chance to look for "good" restaurants..
Daddy :
If you can choose only one island-hopping package, choose Koh Hong.
We thought Four island was fun, but Koh Hong will blow you away !!
Fun is Guranteed!
Day 4 - R&R
Krabi Day 2 - Four Islands
Too many choices and packages, since we are new to Krabi,
we chose the Four-Islands package :
- Chicken
- Tub
- Poda
- Phra Nang Cave
Long Boat prices :
Adult(450B), Child ( 350B)
Yi shouting : take the next flight to Krabi, we are having FUN !!
We have early breakfast at 0715, since the pickup will arrive at 0830.
Buffet breakfast is sumptuous, but we cannot eat too much,
in case we vomit on the boat :p
The boat area is at Nopparat Beach. Once you disembark,
you will see whole stretch of speed boats and long boats.
Crowded !
Video : LongTail Boat
One L-o-n--g Tail boat can seat 45 passengers, this is not a small sampan.
Mission 1 - Tub island
Sand bank is exposed, allowing us to walk from the boat towards inland.
There are no jetty, so you either climb down a ladder, or jump straight into the sea.
As today is 01May Labour day public holiday,
we see boats and people everywhere !!
Video : Tub Island crowded
Nevertheless, once kids see the sand and water,
they only have FUN in their mind.
Video : Water play
Video : Fishes are coming
One happy family,
Xin always looks alert, after her beauty sleep :p
Tip : It is not easy to climb back onto the boat, as you need to access a ladder.
Luckily, a lot of helpful uncles help us load and upload our kiddos.
Mission 2 - Chicken Island
We smuggled some muffins from breakfast :)
One of the cliffs look like a chicken head, thus the island name.
We did not disembark, although this is fertile snorkeling area.
Video : Chicken Island snorkel
Too bad, Daddy and Mummy cannot somersault into the cool water.
We need to babysit :p
Mission 3 : Poda Island
Lunch is fried rice, appetising when you are hungry :)
We need to recharge our energy, in order to Play harder.
After a quick break, we trek 15min to the other side of the island.
We saw some Tsunami alert signs along the way.
Krabi was also affected by the 2004 Tsunami, but impact is mild,
compared to Phuket and Phi Phi.
Daddy and Mummy were amazed at the kid's endurance.
Weather was scorching hot, and the ground was hot too.
But we heard few complaints.
Maybe the kids are anticipating clear blue skies and green sea beyond?
We were not disappointed,
white sandy beach and picturesque limestone greets us again !!
Video : Poda island
Video : more cliffs
Mission 4 : Phra Nang Cave
Yi and Xin were KO and Mummy rest with them on the boat.
We are out from 0830 to 1400, no wonder kids are tired.
We did not explore the caves, but instead play with sandcastles.
We buried Wei in the sand again. Too bad Yi did not witness this sight.
Video : Sand Play
Did you know Sengkangbabies were on FHM cover for 2010 May Kid's edition keke
Back on board, we quench our thirst with watermelon and mineral water.
It is easily 34 or 35 degrees, and we have our suntans to proof.
Video : Wen Xin Playtime
On the way to our van, we found our photos+frames.
Only 100B each? Singaporeans will say "cheap cheap".
In the van, we are tired but happy.
Daddy wonders how we are going to survive another sun-sand-sea day?
We went out for early dinner. Nobody object to aircon Macdonalds :)
Have you seen a "sawadeeka" Uncle Ronald before?
Daddy has not seen Pork burger before yummy.
Last mission of the day, is dedicated to Mummy. She needs to do some shopping, otherwise our trip will be mission-fail hehe.
Video : F1 Tuk Tuk brings us home
Daddy : Krabi (甲米) is paradise. The limestones, green seas, white beaches,
are postcard perfect. Everywhere you turn, more limestones greet you.
There are fishes everywhere for the kids to feed. However, we suspect
there could be too many people, as water clarity is not crystal clear.
Tip : kid's life jacket are rare, you might want to consider buying them from town first.
More to come : Krabi activities for kids (甲米)
Day 1 - Arrival
Day 2 - Four Islands
Day 3- Hong Island
Day 4 - R&R
