Hard Rock Cafe with friends

Everyone recognise this flying car at Cuscaden road. Together with a few friends, we were invited for some food tasting at Hard Rock cafe (HRC) last week.

Daddy does not know how long HRC has been around in Singapore,
but that car seems to have been there for easily 20 years !

Be it for family, couple, or a group of friends, Hard Rock cafe has endear itself to customers. When we go on holidays, Hard Rock always feature on our itinerary, that is, before the kids pop out. Mummy loves to collect the guitar pins and momentos from each city.

As Natalie shares with us HRC's history in Singapore, we got a "JUMBO Combo", a bit of everything to make everybody happy and full. Love the home-made onion ring ! The nachos is nice but portion was too hugh, we could not finish it.

In case you are interested in our menu, do pop by HRC website.

Natalie insist we must try HRC's Chili Crab Dip. Apparently, this dish has caught on with HRC patrons and is one of the popular dish. It comes with the buns too, and your fingers will not get messy from the crab essence :)

We heard how local fare has evolve over the years at HRC, as some guest (maybe senior folks) prefer rice and noodles. Even our chef has been working here for 20 plus years !

We all know HRC serves burgers, steaks, the usual western fare. But if we thought Chilli-crab variation is surprising and delicious, wait till you hear about their Char Kway Teow !
(yup, everyone drop our jaws when we hear Mee Goreng and some other famous Singapore dishes are also on the menu haha)

Daddy is wondering how non Singaporeans and locals will take to it?
It is not oily, so do not expect any lard. Consider this a healthier version,
sort of sinful craving without the cholesterol !

Back to the regular western menu, we love the burger and succulent ribs :)

Ruting showing us how we should devour our fajitas :)

Dessert time, how can we leave without HRC's famous brownies? and Apple Crumbler

Daddy would like to take this opportunity to thanks Natalie and Chris for hosting us, we found out a few things which are otherwise unknown to the public :p

We got to learn that HRC is also involved in social work, and they sometimes host lunch for the less-privilege kids. To us, maybe HRC is ideal for that rock evening with your darling, but HRC is trying to promote itself as a ideal cafe for family get together too.

Do pop by our friends' blog too :
- Edith
- Hong Peng (HP)
- Rui Ting

If you wish to enjoy HRC's menu, you can find them at Sentosa too.
Do take note that Hard Rock Hotel is a franchise and they serve different menus.

Wasabi kids !

This is not an advertorial for Wasabi :p

Kids saw adults munching on green peas. These green peas come with a mild coating of Wasabi !

Daddy tease them with one, they immediately went for their water bottle.
We thought kids would be taught a lesson about being greedy keke. (we know our own kids' appetite for spicy food, and we do not recommend you try this on your child)

You know what? They came back for more. We have to make sure Wasabi coated Green pea can only be dispensed by parent.

Just make sure kids drink plenty of water.

Our No1 Wei can even eat the raw Wasabi ! We have to control his intake.
No worries, we do not intend to introduce raw fish to kids yet.

Sushi Tei Serangoon Garden

One afternoon, we decided to have our lunch at Sushi Tei Serangoon Garden. Mummy is a sushi fan, however, Daddy is always reluctant to dine out with kids...

Prawns and Unagi are always popular with kids.

Kang is taking his own time to enjoy his cuisine

Soft Shell crab, our family's all time favourite. Kids just love the crunchiness !

California handroll for Daddy.

Chawamushi is good for Yi and Xin (smaller kids), but even they prefer solid food like Fried Rice nowadays... Normally, a simple Bento set will satisfy their hunger pangs.

Is it true that as long as kids are full, they will listen to us and behave? Daddy doubt so, as kids will start playing another trick to purposely annoy parents haha.

Food and service is good, and kids were in a good mood.
However, Daddy will always prefer to eat home rather then outside. To ask our kids to settle down
(with all the finger-to-lip ssssh..) is a Formidable challenge.

..and you might not get to enjoy the meal thereafter keke. Bon appetit (later) !!

If you have a young toddler, we will also recommend a comfortable child restrain.

Chicken temptation, this fellow is spicy hot and delicious ! The thin crust was crunchy too.

After a while, we lost count of the variety of pizzas.

Trip to Ang Mo Kio Wet Market

Every Sunday when we wake up, a sumptuous breakfast awaits us.
You have Nasi Lemak, Wanton Noodle, Roti Prata, and all sorts of kueh (pastries).

We are so pampered by 奶奶.

One day, Daddy ask the kids, where did our breakfast come from?
The next thing we know, Wei is tagging along with 奶奶 on her Market trip.

We reach Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 at around 7am. Normally, we can laze in bed on Sunday morning :p

The Wet market is buzzing with activities early in the morning.
Wet Market is where Singapore go to get their fresh food. Tourist are always curious about how Wet Markets and Hawker Centres have integrated into modern Singapore.

Leafy cabbage and bean sprouts.

Fish, steam or pan fried? Or simply fishball in soup?

Love the crispy duck, or shall we go for baby ribs?

Fruit stall, where is banana?

Look at the colourful photos above, Wet Market is an explosion of rich colours !
Red from Meat, Green from Veggies, White from Beans etc.

The buzz from the shoppers and stallholders is electrifying ! Everybody going about their business with a shopping list. 奶奶 must be pondering over her dinner menu.

**On to part two of our journey, Breakfast.

We are choosing our afternoon snack, maybe Marble cake?

Prata for breakfast?

..or our favourite Nasi Lemak at Blk 532?

Besides enjoying good food, our kids should also appreciate the effort and love which goes into food preparation. Every drop of rice, every strand of noodle means effort, and nobody should take it for granted.

If you like our Wet Market adventure, a trip to Jurong Fishery Port might be your cup of tea.
