No fireworks, but the technicians are testing the Lighting and Lasers, and mood of anticipation is STRONG. Tomorrow, you might not be able to secure a nice vantage point (read our Firework and best location post), it will be crowded. So you might want to consider going tonight with your family, soak in the atmosphere at the Bay, work your cameras :p Singapore is definitely ready to Party to welcome 2012 ! Now, Imagine fireworks bouncing off the walls ! From 9pm onwards, technical rehearsal, sound, lighting, and lasers should start. You might be lucky enough to spot some nice Rainbow spheres !

Last Tue, as part of Esplanade's community engagement initiatives, some 160 guests from VWO (Voluntary Welfare Organisations) were invited to witness the launching of wishing spheres into Marina Bay.
As you might know by now, Singapore invites everyone to pen their wishes for the coming year onto wishing spheres.
After our signatures collecting sting at Tampines, our kids were very curious about how their wishing spheres will become neighbours with "Merlion and Durian" at Marina Bay. So our family troop down in support.

Found William and Calvin among the crowd. Our guests are busy writing their wishes, and our friends are busy snapping away :)
Kids kept asking why Marina Bay's water turns Milo, but Daddy tries his best to focus their attention on the wishing spheres instead keke.
Anyway, our kids got to doodle on the Wishing spheres again, Kang pen down HappY NEw YEar in bold.
After penning their wishes, we consolidate all the spheres again, some lucky guests were invited to fling the spheres into Marina Bay. One by one, we moved the spheres nearer to the water edge. 1,2,3 aim your balls at the boat.. we thought some of the spheres were purposely aim at the boats !!
Fireworks, how can we say Hello to 2012 without igniting some fireworks?
Check out the map below for some vantage points to soak in the fireworks at the stroke of Midnight! Organisers told us the fireworks are designed in such a way that you can get the same visual effect from any angle. Cool, six more days !
Before the Fireworks starts, 20,000 wishing spheres will be illuminated. Look at this Magical video from a Mr "MunenMuneoChan". I want to be there to witness this spectacle !
A little introduction about SGcares, if you have always wish to contribute back to society through volunteering, SGcares would be able to match your requirement and schedule.
Instead of canvassing for wishes, kids doodle and even pen their own names Proudly on the spheres ooops. Daddy got worried, maybe our timeslot (1 to 3pm) is nap time, and kids are not exactly cooperative and helpful :p Since we are here at Tampines MRT, we might as well try our best. So Daddy assign Yi and Xin one ball each, and we invited passer-bys to pen their wishes for the coming year. Look at how Yi and Xin kept themselves busy, playing with water, hide and seek, and even basketball ! Maybe some people are curious why small kids can volunteer too?
To be a volunteer, age does not matter, passion is more important. This gusty girl blocks a pathway, and Forces everyone to sign (oh no) !! If we are not invited for future charity/wishing events, you know the reason. After finishing two smaller balls, we upsize and got a GIANT ball keke. The volunteers will politely invite everyone to express their aspirations and hopes. Daddy told the kids the balls will eventually end up at Marina Bay's reservoir. And the kids are excited with another opportunity to view Merlion soon. A little boy hopes his parents will listen more to him keke, and SengkangBabies wishes health and happiness to everyone :) Collecting Wishes prove to be tiring for the little ones.. ..or maybe they are tired after playing with basketball and football?
With each hope and smile, we volunteers are encouraged and spur on to collect more wishes :) Benjamin's children show our kids how to be active volunteers :)
Daddy hopes our little Wishing Spheres project will highlight to you the volunteers' enthusiasm and sacrifices. Cheers to a better 2012!
Slowly but surely, 20,000 Wishing Spheres will be collected all over Singapore, and pool at Marina Bay by 25th Dec. Each sphere signifies someone's aspiration :)
Walking across Marina Bay reservoir? Daddy is dreaming, but if we can walk across Marina Bay and KICK the balls, that would be so cool ! (this is a man's thing). Imagine, playing soccer over water to herald in the new year woohoo!!

Shall we talk more about the Wishing Spheres? Ok, just write down your wishes, dump the balls in Marina Bay and your wishes will come true. So simple right?
Now Imagine 20,000 balls, loaded onto mini boats, string them together, under the HOT sun. Daddy hopes he will survive this episode to blog about his tears and sweat !
And what will the tourists be thinking, will they join us in penning their wishes or simply take in the sight when 20,000 spheres fill up Marina Bay?
What will Merlion be thinking? You might get a hint from previous year's photo-contest (hint use fisheye lens to have a better chance of winning)
