We were supposed to see some Fireworks at Marina Bay, but Mummy is sick, so we went to Sengkang Anchorvale CC instead. Daddy grab three boys and walk 15min to view the countdown activities.
Kids did not complain :) Over McDonald nuggets and some live-band, we countdown to 2012 together with our Sengkang neighbours.
Although the fireworks might not be as magnificent as Marina Bay's, the atmosphere and partying are still happening :)
When did we even have to make a choice about Fireworks location? Since a few years back, every neighborhood got it's own countdown activities and Fireworks too !
From our home, and within 10min drive, we can reach three Firework sites in Sengkang and Punggol. Last year, we blog about how HOT are the neighbourhood Fireworks!

If you are into photography, Dslr, mirrorless, compact, even smartphones, go down to Marina Bay, Tonight. No fireworks, but the technicians are testing the Lighting and Lasers, and mood of anticipation is STRONG. Tomorrow, you might not be able to secure a nice vantage point (read our Firework and best location post), it will be crowded. So you might want to consider going tonight with your family, soak in the atmosphere at the Bay, work your cameras :p Singapore is definitely ready to Party to welcome 2012 ! Fireworks, how can we say Hello to 2012 without igniting some fireworks?
Check out the map below for some vantage points to soak in the fireworks at the stroke of Midnight! Organisers told us the fireworks are designed in such a way that you can get the same visual effect from any angle. Cool, six more days !
Before the Fireworks starts, 20,000 wishing spheres will be illuminated. Look at this Magical video from a Mr "MunenMuneoChan". I want to be there to witness this spectacle !
**updated 2011Oct28- do avoid going over lunchtime, as there are very little shelters. And no one seems to know about the water-feature playground's operational timings.
Yesterday, Punggol Waterway was officially opened. We saw the bouncing castle from far away, but what capture the kids' attention was the water feature playground !
If you forgot to bring swimwear, just go in with undies :) Kids were having a ton of fun splashing around. Cool ! Families come out in force to support Punggol's "Venice". When we arrive at 6plus, the sun has already set. But the atmosphere is still one of celebration.
Love the water bodies, canoes, boats, even a leisurely walk along the river proves relaxing. We definitely need to come back for a cycle, and explore the other sections of Punggol Waterway.

The special lighting on the ground looks like an inferno illusion. Spectacular ! We end the evening with Fireworks
NDP (National Day) is coming again, and once again we did not get any tickets :p Never mind, we can still enjoy fireworks at Marina Bay, every Sat till 09Aug itself. The sky turning dark... At around 8pm, the sky light out with Fireworks and roaring explosions ! Daddy is very happy with the results, compared to our virgin firework shots last year at Anchorvale CC. We were based at Clifford Pier, and if you are around Esplanade stretch, you will be able to see Fireworks' reflections off MBS. Love this clean and simple firework! But Daddy's favorite is still the first one, with a colourful burst of colours.
- Iso - 100 or 200 - Shutter - Bulb (keep shutter open for each firework series from start till end, around 5s) - Aperture - F11 to F14 - set lens wider to capture landscape or background too - Manual focus (instead of Auto) - Tripod and Remote is a must
Everyone wanted to know about Firework locations, the best spots, and a substantial visitors were actually searching for "Fireworks + Sengkang", and we thought MarinaBay is the ultimate happening venue.
Maybe more young families are staying around their neighbourhood, to avoid city's congestion, or kids have problem keeping awake for Fireworks at midnight :)
Go ahead, blog about Firecrackers in Feb, and investigate whether more visitors will pop up keke.
Yes, we were there to witness countdown, and firework. We met our neighbours Chew family and their kids Jenna and Kyan. Kang was getting sleepy, and then....
... pom..pom.. the sky explodes with fireworks.. .. the crowds were waving spontaneously. hooray ! .. Fireworks is not as spectacular as Marina Bay's, but the mood was fantastic ! 10 Minutes only, we have to wait for next year :p

First Firework attempt for Daddy, it was fun, trial and error for 10 min. Daddy will definitely look out for more firework opportunities :)

This coming weekend, Daddy hopes to capture some "decent" fireworks. From research, we would love to share a few pointers. Note, Daddy is still at 纸上谈兵 stage.

The tips sounds easy, but Daddy suspect multiple attempts are needed to improve our skills. Hope Daddy will not fumble with the Dslr buttons in the darkness :)
Additional readings reveal a mysterious "Black Card". - reduce bounced-lights off smoke, thus minimum over-exposure - allows different "stages" of firework to be captured, and combined into final picture
