Taiwan with Sengkang Babies

Taiwan is popular with Singaporeans, no wonder our Taiwan posts rank among the top 10 at SengkangBabies.

The number 1 post would be our Taipei Itinerary guide. Parents are goggling for Leofoo Safari Resort and BabyBoss while researching for Taipei free and easy.

We got some feedback that our Taiwan fanpage albums are hard to find, because there are TOO many albums. Since starting our Fanpage 6 months ago, we have consistently loaded more adventures
(both in and out of Singapore)
haha. This should be a happy problem.

For more Taiwan itineraries, we recommend you to drop by Taipei Dreams :)

At SengkangBabies, we believe in sharing our adventures, everyone benefits from sharing.
Do share our blog and Like our Fanpage if you think more young families will benefit.

We guarantee more fun is coming your way :)

Taiwan Day 8 - Mao Kong 貓空 cable car

After running through Taipei Zoo, we hop onto the Mao Kong (貓空) gondola to reach Mao Kong peak.

Mao Kong used to be a site for tea plantation. Tourists come up to enjoy tea-culture, and hiking. For us, the cable car ride itself was already a treat ! (Genting is still better as you can see the drifting clouds, and the Sheer Descend !)

Cable car will ride us up the hills, we can see green plantations all around us.

If it is too windy, we suspect little kids might be shaken by the "rocking".

Along the way, colourful animal cabins passes by :)

Fresh air awaits us at the top

We quickly settle down for late lunch at 1500, all are starving and tired by now.

Tuck in, but someone decided sleep is more important.

There is a "crystal" 水晶 cabin, and the base is made of glass. Daddy is not sure whether he anyone might encounter height phobia.

We took the normal cabin downhill, and Yi only woke up halfway (photo below is from MaoKong website)

Throughout our trip, we are very proud that Wei and Kang are able to keep pace with us, and even take care of younger siblings.

Video : Maokong sightings

If you are interested to find out more about MaoKong, do drop by their website.
Travelling from first to fourth station is only 50TWD, ie SGD $2.50!
(Wow, why is every Tourism ticket in Taiwan so affordable ??)

Taiwan Day 8 - Taipei Zoo

We are heading to Taipei Zoo today, also called 木柵動物園.
The most famous resident here are the Pandas (团团圆圆).

From our hotel, we have to take a 20min train ride to reach Taipei Zoo station (on the MuZha line).
Along the way, we pass by an old-train exhibit.

The Zoo is packed on this Sat morning.

From the Train station, we just follow the foot-print murals on the ground (look at our first photo)

Tickets are so cheap, $3 for adults only !! (Singapore Zoo is $20)

Wow, Taipei Zoo is Hugh (almost twice the size of Singapore's Mandai Zoo). We identify Panda,
Camel and Gorilla as unique to Taipei Zoo.

Kids remark that the Pandas are lazy, either dozing or hiding one corner :p

At the top of the Panda enclosure is a souvenir shop, and some fossil display.
Our kids aping the Tiger and Orang Utan keke.

Our little Pandas :)

We headed to the Desert, where we spotted camels. Kids are curious about the humps.

Weather is hot, Panda ice cream anyone? Anyway, if your kids are still young, you will appreciate a stroller. The Zoo is Big (reminder again keke)

From certain corners, you can spot cable cars, Taipei's famous Mao Kong Gondola (貓空).

Look who we found, Mr Hippo and Croccodile. These lifesize figurines are very popular with visitors.
Wen Xin is apprehensive.

King Kong ! King Kong ! Daddy tell kids KK is Hollywood, this is Gorilla.
Our friend looks tough, and we better do not mess with him.

Although Taipei Zoo is big, we actually prefer Singapore Zoo's compact enclosure,
which offers more interactions with animals up close.

There is a cold temperate zone, where we can find the Emperor penguin.

After four hours, we have reach the end of our Zoo trip. If time permits, we would love to visit Koala sanctuary and Insect Valley too. We hop onto our tram for the nearest cable car station.

Video : Next stop, Mao Kong Cable car :)

We will recommend that you pop by the Panda section first, before you take a tram ride to the top of the Zoo. Then walk downwards, this will save you a lot of energy :)

Taiwan Day 7 - Baby Boss

Wow ! Kids landing on the moon was Daddy's dream ! but our boys got to role play Astronauts at Taipei's famous career themepark Baby Boss (職業體驗城).

We have heard of Baby Boss from friends, and all gave high marks ! Imagine, 50 professions, and 70 different occupations !

All kids are equipped with their working pass. There are two working slots, either 1000 to 1500, (5 hours) or 1000 to 1800(8 hours !). Daddy thought 5 hours would be more than enough.

At Baby Boss, the concept is easy, you work to get a salary, then you can spend your hard-earned money at the souvenir shops haha.

Together with the map( BabyBoss website), and below job-advertisement (indicating duration, age, and schedule), we can plan our own job itinerary. As the number of jobs are overwhelming, we recommend that you plan and be selective, in order to intern at your Choice jobs. (Daddy was stressed as he has to try to accomodate everybody haha)

** do note that Parents cannot accompany their kids into their "offices", you can only view from the glass panel outside :p

A simple job summary, and the kids are ready to be interns!

#Job 1 - with this mini security force, your bank is safe. Look, there is even a vault in ANZ bank ! Our kids are all issued with bullet-proof vest, Baby Boss means business !

#Job 2 - Who is checking into EVA airline? No worries, our friendly steward will serve you well :p

Pilots were hughly popular, thus we can only opt for Stewards. Family members even got boarding-pass to go up the 747 and view your kids "serve" coffee, tea or juice keke.

#Job 3 - Fireman never fail to disappoint the kids, they get to play heroes and douse fires !

Our mini FireEngine drove us to the burning warehouse, where the kids quickly put their skills to use and fight the flame !

While we were job hunting, we manage to pose with some other interesting jobs :p
Did you see the jail cell ! We saw moving ambulance, police vans cool !!

Lunch was at the canteen, nuggets to reward the kids. Our kids were like amazing race, rushing from one station to another haha.

#Job 4 - Astronauts are cool. Wei and Kang and crew landed on the Moon !

Infact, we already decide to book a Nasa flight to tour Space+moon, when we saw the space- shuttle at the entrance ! Our voyager did not disappoint.

Since Yi did not wish to participate, Daddy can only take some candid shots of him. Boy will promise this and that but when the coordinators want him to join in, Yi will start to stress and refuse to join any activities. Daddy suspect if coordinator speaks in English, then Yi will show less resistance. (yup, Wen Yi is very uncomfortable in communicating in Mandarin )

#Job 5 - They work as waiter in a 5Star hotel. (Although Daddy thought being chambermaid would be more fun ).

There are 50 professions on level 6, and we did only 5 jobs over five hours :)

If we have more time, Daddy will definitely enrol kids for the marching continent (野战) ! You can participate as Soldier, Police, or Band members. It was so hilarious to hear the kids echo their commander's slogans or orders. March, Marching on :)

(we beg for the coordinator to lend us some guns for photo's sake, as we ran out of time)

Video : Our kids are working, and having Fun at the same time !!

Video : Do you want Kopi, Teh or Milo?

Even Wen Wei (8 years old) enjoys himself, but Daddy suspect elder kids might find BabyBoss childish :p

As the end of our job, kids are beaming when they receive their salary. What can we buy with our pay cheque?

If you are in Taipei with kids, we would highly recommend BabyBoss for a fun-fill day !

Baby Boss is at level 6 of Jing Hua (京華城). Our day 2 Taipei 101 can see this round building from the top of Taipei 101.

More pricing and information can be found at Baby Boss link, and their Fanpage.
You can view more BabyBoss photos at SengkangBabies fanpage too.

For kids ~~ 900TWD (about SGD $45)
Accompanying adults ~~ 500TWD ( around SGD $25)
