30Jun2011, the last train will leave Tanjong Pagar

You must have heard it, on the news, from word of mouth, more people are expressing interest to take one train ride before the curtain closes on 01Jul2011.

Daddy brought the kids on our maiden trip last Oct.

The kids love it! This is not your normal MRT ride, as our choo-choo locomotive is a piece of history. Since then, our Train ride has become our most popular post.

Google searches for "train schedule" and "contact number" tells us a lot of people are still tying to hitch a ride, before "Tanjong Pagar Railway Station" says Sayonara.

Daddy would like to share more stories from Jerome, a fellow blogger who is more like a Train historian. He has an amazing catalogue of railway stories, from level crossings, Kluang, rides, bridges ... http://thelongnwindingroad.wordpress.com/journeys-through-tanjong-pagar/

Maybe we can surprise the kids with a trip to Bukit Timah Station. It would be so cool to sit on the bench, watch the station master pass the "ring", and see the trains roar pass. http://thelongnwindingroad.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/dont-miss-the-last-train/

Daddy is also tempted to hop on to Kluang for some old time Kopi.

What happens when the last train is gone?
What will happen to the lush greenery along the tracks? GreenCorridor is trying to preserve some of the rail sections. Read about their mission --> http://www.thegreencorridor.org/about/

In case you are interested, GreenCorridor also organizes trekking along the old tracks of Jurong Line, Teban Gardens. It should be fun to walk on tracks, bridges, but the route is not suitable for kids under 8 years old.

In around 40 days, History will close a chapter on our railway story. If you are interested to know more about train tickets, schedules and experience, please visit :
